PDC 5081

Images

Cream 80-column card with rounded corners and a red stripe at the top reading “PDC 5081” in the bottom margin. This is a variant of the ubiquitous IBM 5081 card - a general purpose card with no special features. The inverse of the card is printed with two fields; “Inv. Quantity” and “Warehouse Location”. All columns are numbered below the 0 row, and below the 9 row and the card is cut on the top right hand corner.

All specimens of these cards in the archive are punched. Cards appear to be at least partially punched from the back as some text is printed in the keypunch character printing zone on the back of the card. These cards were likely originally used as part of an inventory management system, with logistics workers required to write quantities and a location identifier on the back of cards once they were warehoused for entry into the computer by a computing employee.
