Engineering Data Card

Images

An aperture card featuring the words “ENGINEERING DATA CARD” in large printed letters across the card. The card has a number of fields to identify the drawing number, size, revision and number of sheets in the sequence. “Extraction Bldg & Yard Plans, Sections & details [sic] Trench drains 5/84” is hand-written on the card under the printed drawing number and size.

The card is cream in color with a yellow stripe running along the top edge. The top left corner is cut and the corners are rounded. The bottom margin of the card contains the text “MMM 12399” left aligned and along the remainder “FILMSORTĀ® Brand Aperture and Camera Card and DUPLICARDĀ® Brand Copy Cards - Product of 3M, St. Paul, Minn”. The Bruning logo is printed in the bottom right corner with the text “the aperture card systems people” printed below it. The back of the card is stamped with the word “SUBSTANDARD” which likely indicates this drawing capture was not considered to be of a high enough quality for archival use.

The card’s microfilm contains an engineering drawing of Ralston Purina Company’s Soybean Plan Extractor Building and Yard in Lafayette, Indiana. The drawing is dated February 1984 and is a set of plans, sections and details for trench drains in an existing building. The drawing is branded with the Ralston Purina Company Corporate Engineering Department logo. The microfilm capture lacks contrast around some fine details in the drawing, likely leading to this card’s “SUBSTANDARD” status. The drawing is labelled as “13-C1488-1”.

The card is printed and punched with the following fields:
