Yellow 80-column punch card printed for the Allentown Plant of Mack Trucks, with square corners. The center of the punch area carries an oval “Mack” logo above the text “ALLENTOWN PLANT”. The card is titled “EMPLOYEE ATTENDANCE RECORD” below this with instructions reading “NOTE - PLEASE DO NOT FOLD OR MUTILATE THIS CARD” and “BONUS AND DAY WORK ARE RECORDED ON OTHER SIDE.”. “ABS 804902TR-0” is printed in the bottom margin. The reverse side is unprinted.
The top print area provides headings for “NAME”, “SENIORITY DATE”, “MAN NUMBER”, and “SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER” which when punched would be printed beneath these headings. Across the centre-left of the punch area a time-entry grid is printed with alternating “OUT” and “IN” lines and the instruction “RING STARTING TIME IN HERE”. Below these a grid of fields labelled “ACTUAL HOURS”, “OVERTIME HOURS” is provided.
In areas that do not contain other printed information the punch area is printed with numbers labeling rows 0-8 and vertical rules denoting the division of fields when punched. Field labels are printed in a table in row 9 of the punch area, with columns numbered below the table. A full list of field descriptions appears in the appendix below.
The layout and legends indicate use as an employee time-and-attendance card for recording clock rings and hours worked. and were likely used as part of an employee payroll system. However the lone specimen card in the archive is not punched consistent with the fields described on the card.
