Salmon 80-column punch card printed for the Allentown Plant of Mack Trucks, with rounded corners and a card cut on the top right-hand corner. The center of the punch area carries an oval “Mack” logo above the text “ALLENTOWN PLANT”. The card is titled “IN PROCESS CARD” and instructions indicating related forms and color keys: “ORDER MASTER—SALMON NO STRIPE”, “IN PROCESS BALANCE—MANILA NO STRIPE”, “PART DELIVERIES—PINK”, and “SPOILED & REJECTED PCS.—NO STRIPE.” are printed below the title. “ABS 753036” is printed in the bottom left margin and “305” is centered at the bottom. The reverse side is unprinted.
The card is divided by solid vertical rules into fixed-length fields. Field headings appear in the print area across the top as “DATE”, “PART NUMBER”, “ORDER NUMBER”, “PCS. ON ORDER”, and “TOTAL COST” which when punched would be printed beneath these headings. All the card’s punched fields are shown in a table in row 9 of the punch area with all columns numbered below. A full list of field descriptions appears in the appendix below.
The layout and legends indicate use as an in-process tracking card for parts used in manufacturing, likely as part of an inventory, production, and/or cost control system. However the lone specimen card in the archive is not punched consistent with the fields described on the card.
