Cream 80-column punch card printed for Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, with square corners and a card cut on the top right-hand corner. The card is a payroll stub carrying the heading “LOUISVILLE AND NASHVILLE RAILROAD COMPANY” and subheading “OFFICE OF AUDITOR OF DISBURSEMENTS, LOUISVILLE, KY.”.

The advisories “KEEP THIS STUB” and “IT SHOWS YOUR GROSS EARNINGS, TAX AND OTHER DEDUCTIONS MADE THEREFROM, AND AMOUNT OF YOUR PAY DRAFT.” are printed in the upper-right. In the punch area, below the header a boxed table spans the width of the card with labelled fields: “IDENTIFICATION NUMBER”, “GROSS EARNINGS”, “TAX DEDUCTIONS” (with subfields “R. R. RET.” and “FED. INC.”), “OTHER DEDUCTIONS” (with subfields “CODE NO.” and “AMOUNT”), “AMOUNT OF DRAFT” and “PAY PERIOD” ( with subfields “YR.”, “MO.”, and “PERIOD”).

Below this, a two‑column legend titled “INTERPRETATION OF ‘CODE NO.’ UNDER ‘OTHER DEDUCTIONS’” lists numbered codes 1–97 describing deduction categories including insurance plans, state and city income taxes, charitable contributions, club dues, rent, and welfare contributions.

“IBM G11413” is printed in the bottom margin. The punch area has no printed column or row numbering. The reverse side is unprinted.

Two specimens of this card exist in the archive. Both are punched and printed and bear the same identification number, “44335”. Other cards in the collection from the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company also bear the same identification number.

The first card, Dated December 1958, shows gross earnings of $212.61, with deductions for “R.R. Ret.” tax ($13.29), “Federal Income” tax ($23.15), and a another deduction for Prudential Insurance Company ($3.00) for a total draft amount of $173.17.

The second card, Dated November 1958, shows gross earnings of $222.27, with deductions for “R.R. Ret.” tax ($7.95), “Federal Income” tax ($24.89), and other deduction for Travellers Company ($2.00) and Community Chest - Pensacola ($2.04) for a total draft amount of $185.39.
