Control Cards were designed for interactive, or runtime interaction with a running application. They could be used to control the execution of a process by enabling/disabling features, or even safely abort or stop a process. Most control cards were punched from general purpose cards, but some application-specific cards were printed to assist operators using commercial or industrial applications.
